An attempt to connect real life experiences with Buddhist scriptural understanding

Understanding Death & Beyond
Date : Saturday, 27 December – Monday, 29 December 2008
Venue : Thean Hou Temple, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Organised : by Sāsanārakkha Buddhist Sanctuary
Concept : Our beliefs on what happens after death will condition how we respond to our own death, shape the form and spirit of our funeral rites, and counsel the dying. The closer our beliefs are to reality, the better we are able to handle death. So instead of limiting our understanding to a certain set of dogmatic views, it would be more advantageous to us to investigate the phenomenon objectively by comparing real-life experiences with those described or implied in religious doctrines.
This conference will initiate such investigations and hopefully bring us closer to a more accurate understanding of death and beyond—an inevitable reality that awaits all of us and our loved ones at the end of our human lives.
Who should attend:
- Buddhists knowledgeable about the subject and relevant scriptural texts
- Buddhists involved in Dhamma propagation
- Open-minded people with a spirit of enquiry
